Nikon has unveiled the Nikon 1 imaging system at the Photofair 2012 held in Mumbai. The Nikon 1 imaging system touts a balance between performance/ simplicity/ portability to herald a new class of digital photography. Nikon also showed off its Nikon 1 V1 and J1 interchangeable lens cameras to demonstrate the capabilities of the new Nikon 1 imaging system. While the J1 is a pocketable camera, which Nikon claims provides stunning speed and portability, the VI is the world’s smallest interchangeable lens camera. The V1 features a 1.4 million dot high resolution EVF that automatically activates when users raise the camera to their eye. Aside this it also comes armed with a high-speed electronic shutter, a magnesium alloy body for the shutter, a new mulch-accessory port for the SB-N5 speed light or GP-N1—GPS module. Nikon plans to release both the devices in March 2012, however no pricing details have been shared. In the meanwhile hit the break and checkout some of the salient features of the Nikon 1 imaging system
- Fastest Autofocus and most focus points in the world: The phase-detection AF, embedded in the newly developed sensor, will track and capture fast-moving subjects in sharp, crystal-clear focus. The focal plane phase-detection AF with effectively positioned 73 points recognizes the moving subject as a plane to ensure that images are captured clearly.
- Motion snapshot: When in “Motion Snapshot” mode, the camera not only captures a still image but also a movie vignette. The movie vignette will play back in dramatic, 2.5x slow motion to original BGM allowing users to select the best image.
- Smart Photo Selector: With Smart Photo Selector, the camera automatically takes total of 20 shots at a high speed of 30fps. It then automatically selects the most spectacular shot from the series of shots taken.
- Full HD Video: The cameras can shoot high-resolution still images, while shooting high-quality, full HD movies (1080/60i) simultaneously. Even while shooting a video, images can be captured in high-resolution without interruption and without changing the mode dial.
