Pentax announced its K-30 Mid level DSLR

Pentax has announced its K-30 Mid level DSLR which features  a 16 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and it also features an ISO range up to 12800 which is expandable up to 25600. It can shoot continuously at up to 6 frames per second, has a maximum shutter speed of 1/6000th of a second and can capture video at 1080p30.

According to Pentax, the K-30 features a water sealed body, and it is designed to be water resistant, and also dust resistant and can work in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Pentax K-30 DSLR will go on sale in July for $800 for the body only of $900 with an 18-55mm kit lens.

Pentax Compact System Camera Leaks

The Pentax Q was the company’s first foray into the compact system camera (CSC) market and to say the critical reaction was mixed would be putting it mildly. However it seems this has not put the company off, if leaked images and details of a new mirrorless camera are to be believed.

A Chinese Pentax forum has gotten hold of very official-looking shots of the new camera from Pentax, which will be called the K-01. Alongside the new camera from Pentax, there is also details of a new K-Mount lens, the Pentax-DA 40mm f.28 XS.



The design of the new camera is said to have been aided by designer Marc Newson and while more specifications on the camera are still unclear, it is believed to feature a 16 megapixel sensor and a 3in 920k dot LCD screen on the rear.

The camera is also set to come with a super-thin standard lens which measures just 9.2mm offering a focal length of 61mm in the 35mm format - making it the world's thinnest interchangeable lens.



We expect to hear an official announcement from Pentax regarding its new camera in the very near future so stay tuned for more information as we get it.

Pentax Compact Comes With Extra Shutter Release

With cellphones chasing regular compact cameras down so hard, the camera makers have to do something to fight back. Polaroid is putting the Android operating system on its new Smart Camera. What’s Pentax doing?
Sprinkling extra shutter buttons over its camera, that’s what. The new Optio VS20 is an otherwise humdrum 16MP compact that has an extra shutter release grafted onto the bottom of the right end of the body as you hold it. Thus, you can more easily shoot in a portrait orientation without twisting your wrist. It’s a feature normally only found on the highest-end SLRs, or smaller SLRs with a battery grip attached.
Other than the extra button, which is infinity-times-two more buttons than most cellphones have, the Optio VS20 has a 20x optical zoom, a three-inch, 460,000-dot display, sensor-shift image stabilizer, a second zoom collar around the second shutter button and a tripod mount in the short end for vertical pictures.
Nothing crazy exciting, but a solid set of features to be sure. The price is right, too: $250, available next month.
