Nokia Lumia 610 will soon came to the UK carrier O2. The handset is expected to arrive later in July and is expected to retail for around £150 on Pay as You Go.

At that price range the handset will be competing with the HTC Desire C, which costs £139 and only has a half VGA screen, and likely does not run Ice Cream Sandwich very well on its 600 Mhz single core processor.
The addition will add to O2 UK’s Windows Phone range, which at present only includes the Nokia Lumia 710 and 800, but omits the Nokia Lumia 900.

Nokia 808 PureView Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black

Nokia announced today that the 808 PureView is available for pre-order from Amazon UK and will be shipping at the end of June.
The highlight of the new 808 PureView is the camera – a 41-megapixel sensor with PureView imaging technology. The key features of this camera are ‘pixel oversampling' and its lossless zoom capability for still imaging and video. For stills, the camera will zoom up to 3x.

The camera will record video in full HD at 30 frames per second. The lossless zoom feature for video is slightly different. When recording in 1080p, it is capable of 4x zoom, but 6x zoom at 720p and 12x zoom at 360p.
The 808 PureView's lossless zoom is something completely different from conventional digital zoom. Rather than zooming to the frame size you want, the PureView's zoom maximizes when the output resolution equals the input resolution.

This means that when the area of the sensor reaches a pixel resolution that is the same as the mexapixel setting on the phone, the lens stops zooming, and the final image has no loss in quality.
As for the phone itself, it comes in weighing 169g and sizes up at 123.9x60.2x13.9 mm. The PureView's rather massive camera, however, does add some additional bulk (17.95mm) at the business end.
The display is a 4-inches with a resolution of 640x360 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Nokia Released its Nokia Lumia 610 in UK

Nokia Releases its new Budget phone Nokia Lumia 610 with £15 per month on a 24-month contract in UK.
Nokia gave no further details regarding the contracts length, nor whether there will be alternative deals, though a representative at the event confirmed to V3 it will sell SIM-free for £150.

The phone will be available through a number of carriers and stores including Carphone Warehouse, O2, Vodafone and Virgin.

Samsung Galaxy S III is up for pre orders in uk from several UK carriers. Vodafone, Three, and O2 have all started taking orders for the Galaxy S III, which will be available at the end of May

Phones4U have both the Pebble Blue and Marble White versions available for pre-order and you get a choice between Vodafone, Orange and O2 for an operator. Vodafone and Orange offer the Galaxy S III for free with a 2-year contract costing at least £38.50/month (for 800 minutes, 3000 texts) and £36/month respectively (for 600 minutes, 3000 texts).

On O2, you can pay £46 a month for a free phone and 1GB of data, and Three offers unlimited data and a free phone for £34 a month

Vodafone will also be selling the Galaxy S III though their own stores and promise to offer both the 16GB and 32GB version at launch, but there's no pre-order info just yet. 

The Samsung Galaxy S III is headed for the US as well - it's expected to arrive in June, but exact launch dates and carrier availability will be announced later. The US version will be sporting both HSDPA+ and LTE radios.

Huawei: Ascend Y 100 budget phone exclusive to O2, for £80 on PAYG

UK network O2 has joined Vodafone in supporting Huawei’s push into the UK market, announcing it’ll be stocking the Huawei-badged Ascend Y 100 Android model. It’s very much the “entry level” option, offering a 2.8″ display, 800MHz processor and 2MP camera, with Android 2.3 arriving as the Ascend Y’s operating system.
The Ascend Y is not yet featured on O2′s web site, although it’s apparently ready to launch very soon for £80 on PAYG SIMs, or from £10 per month on a contract basis.

That looks like a slightly rejigged Vodafone SMART to us, which was being rebranded by all the networks last year and sold for a similar price.
You would be much, much better off stealing an extra £20 out of your mum’s wallet and picking up the £100 Huawei Ascend G300 from Vodafone if you’re after a budget Android phone in 2012. Good luck with it all the same, O2

Nokia Lumia 900 is now available in UK from today onward. In the UK, Phones4U sells the Lumia 900 exclusively in white. Cyan and black are currently not available, but soon the Lumia 900 will go on sale more widely

In addition, the list of Nokia exclusive Windows Phone apps is now being called the Nokia Market on the phone, rather than the Nokia Collection. This would seem to show that Nokia has worked with Microsoft to push the Nokia brand more on the Lumia 900 in the UK.

We should soon see if UK residents will warm up to the Lumia 900 like they have in the US. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has admitted that previous members of the Lumia family have met with mixed sales results in the UK.

O2 UK launches new wallet service, helps you empty yours

This may not be the UK operators first attempt at dipping its fingers logo into your pockets, but O2's new mobile wallet does bring with it some de rigeur functionality. Taking a leaf out of Barclays' book, the new app lets you send "Money Messages," essentially text-driven money transfers to any phone number. There's smart-shopping features, too, such as a barcode reader for price comparisons, and daily discount deals to stop the well from going dry too soon. Interestingly, you can also apply for a physical companion card, based on Visa's pre-pay service to bring your virtual wallet into the real world. Not an O2 customer? Asus Transformer Pad 300 now available in the US for $379, coming to the UK in May

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 is now available to order from all the major retailers in the US. This stands in the Taiwanese company’s lineup as the most affordable of the new tablets that were announced recently. As such, its price should come as no surprise.
The 16 GB version of the tablet can be yours for $379, and for 32 GB you’ll have to pay $399. The optional keyboard docking station costs $149.

Despite the great pricing, the Transformer Pad 300 isn’t underpowered at all. It comes with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, a 10.1-inch 1280×800 touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera, a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, 1 GB of RAM, Bluetooth, and it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Transformer Pad 300 is out now in blue. Other colors, such as red and white, will only become available in early June though.
The tablet is also on its way to the UK, where it will arrive for online orders in early May, and in stores in late May. The price that will be asked over there will be £399. This price will include the keyboard dock. Again, as in the US, only the blue model will launch at first. The white one will be out in late June, and the red one in late July.

Kindle Touch starts shipping week early in UK

Those in the UK who pre-ordered the Kindle Touch or Kindle Touch 3G have been getting a nice surprise today, as Amazon has released the devices a week earlier than anticipated. Originally slated to be in stock from 27 April, the new eBook readers are now already on sale (on 20 April).

"Orders from customers worldwide for our new line of electronic ink Kindles have exceeded our expectations," said Kindle EU's vice president, Jorrit Van der Meulen.

"We know that UK customers are eager to get their hands on these new Kindles, which is why we’re delighted to be able to ship several days earlier than we planned."

Customers' devices are being dispatched in the order that they were pre-ordered, so if your's is yet to arrive, it will do soon. New customers can also place orders for both the Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G from today, with Amazon.co.uk even offering next day delivery for those who subscribe to Amazon Prime.

Both eBook readers can also be bought from today at John Lewis, Dixons, Argos, Carphone Warehouse, Currys, PC World, Staples, Tesco and other UK retailers.

The Kindle Touch (Wi-Fi only) costs £109, while the Kindle Touch 3G (+ Wi-Fi) version will set you back £169.

T-Mobile UK rolling out Lumia 800 12070 firmware update for customers

T-Mobile UK are rolling out the Lumia 800 12070 firmware update, according to customers who have received the notification. We received a few comments on our article covering the Three UK roll out last week that T-Mobile still haven't kick-started the process.
As mentioned before, depending on carriers who chose to release it, the 12070 firmware update will be rolled out to new countries on April 4th, 11th, and 18th until the update has been pushed out to every Lumia 800.
The firmware 12070 "battery fix" update will significantly improve available use between charges by optimisation to bring down the discharge rate. We noticed after updating a drop from 200mAh to <100mAh

UK networks prepare to launch HTC One series

The HTC One X and One S are about to launch in the UK and as such, all the major carriers are getting in on the action. Here's a breakdown of how each of the major British networks are handling the launch of the most anticipated Android phone of the year so far.

Before we begin, remember that the HTC One X and One S should be available everywhere from April 5. so if you step into a brick-and-mortar store belonging to any of the big five tomorrow, you'll be able to pick up either a One X or One S.

• Three: Taking first One X and One S orders online today for delivery tomorrow, the official launch day. The One X is free on-contract from £35 per month, while the One S will set you back at least £32 per month -- both plans include unlimited data. If you'd prefer a lower monthly bill, you can pick up the One X from £27 per month, or the One S from £24 per month, both with a £99 upfront payment. All of Three's contracts are 24-month deals.
  
• O2: O2.co.uk now lists the HTC One X (in grey) as available "online only", with delivery promised tomorrow. O2 offers a number of 18 and 24-month deals, though all but the most expensive include some form of up-front fee. O2's "On & On" deals represent the best value on its network. These give you a One X for free, unlimited calls and texts and 1GB of data for £36 per month, with the option of bumping the data allowance up to 2GB for £41 per month. O2 also offers the One X on Pay-As-You-Go, for £479.99.
  
• ​Vodafone:​ Vodafone's still taking pre-orders for the One X (white and grey) and One S (silver). The X will is available for free on 24-month plans from £41 per month, while the S is priced slightly lower at £36 per month. The first 10,000 customers to order each handset will walk away with a pair of urBeats headphones -- the same kind that shipped with the Sensation XL last year -- and 10 free tracks per month from Vodafone Music.
  
• T-Mobile: Matches Voda's prices of £41 per month for the One X and £36 per month for the One S. T-Mo UK, though, offers unlimited data as part of the "full monty" plan. The network says it'll launch both devices online and in stores tomorrow.
  
• ​Orange: Says both devices are "coming soon."

Sim Free Nokia Lumia 900 and 610 Pricing Confirmed For The UK

Nokia’s new Lumia 900 and Lumia 610 are headed to the UK shortly and now we have some pricing details on both handsets for the UK, the SIM free Nokia Lumia 900 will retail for £486 including taxes whilst the SIM free Nokia Lumia 610 will retail for £228 including taxes.
Unfortunately there is no official launch date for both devices, although we suspect it won’t be very long after the Lumia 900 launches in the US which happens on the 8th of April.
As soon as we get some more information on when both devices will be available in the UK we will let you guys know, they should also be available with a range of the mobile carriers here in the UK, although there are no details on which ones as yet.

Another UK mobile carrier has announced that it will be selling two of HTC’s new smartphones, T-Mobile will offer the HTC One X and HTC One S here in the UK from the 5th of April.

And both devices will be available with a range of T-Mobile’s contracts here in the UK this Friday the 5th of April, although we don’t has yet have any pricing details

Orange to offer new iPad from March 16

Orange is bringing the new iPad to the UK and will be selling the device from its release date on March 16
Orange will be bringing Apple's new iPad to its UK customers from the tablet's March 16 launch date.
‘Orange will offer iPad with a range of attractive data plans that will allow customers to connect to its fast 3G and 3.5G network with speeds up to 50 percent faster than previously available,' said a company press release.
Pippa Dunn, consumer chief marketing office for Everything Everywhere (Orange's parent company), commented: ‘New iPad customers will benefit from the widest 3G coverage in the UK and, with our advanced 3.5G roll out, they will also benefit from a really fast network'
‘As a result, we're definitely the number one place to go for those wanting the best all round performance on their new iPad,' she added.
The new iPad updates Apple's existing design with a high-quality Retina display, featuring a 2592x1944 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 264 pixels-per-inch (ppi).
It also upgrades the graphics capability with a quad core graphics processing chip and boasts a 5-megapixel camera using the iPhone 4S's enhanced optics.
Apple's latest slate will be available from Orange stores, through its telesales service and via the company's online webstore.

Sony Xperia S launched by O2 UK

Following Three's announcement yesterday, O2 UK has become the second British network to launch Sony's new flagship handset, the Xperia S. Subsidized prices start at £79 on the cheapest £16.50 per month contract, while a bump up to a £21.50 per momth plan will get you the Xperia S for free, along with 200 minutes, unlimited texts and a 500MB data allowance. Unlike Three, O2 isn't selling the Xperia S on pay-as-you-go, so you'll need to open up a new line, or burn an upgrade if you want to pick up the O2-branded version.
The Xperia S is the first of Sony's new Xperia NXT series to launch internationally, going on sale first in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress. It sports a dual-core CPU, a 4.3-inch 720p "HD Reality Display" and a whopping 12MP camera. We've already given you our first impressions of the Xperia S, and we'll have a full review posted in the next few days.

UK broadcaster Channel 4 to launch a new catch-up channel based on what’s being discussed online

Speaking at the Financial Times’ Digital Media Conference today, David Abraham, CEO of UK broadcaster Channel 4, announced a brand new channel called 4Seven, which will be launching this year.
As Tim Bradshaw from the Financial Times reports, it seems that its schedule will be determined entirely by the Internet community, in that it will monitor the most discussed Channel 4 shows online and provide the programming accordingly.
Channel 4 was launched in the UK way back in 1982, and since then it has introduced a number of accompanying channels, such as Film4, E4, and 4Music, available only through digital platforms such as Freeview. 4Seven will be its first new channel since it launched More4 in 2005, and it will draw heavily from buzz on Twitter, Facebook, blogs and more.
“4seven will be a powerful way of maximizing the audience for the many hours of new Channel 4 programming we launch each week”, said Abraham, “as well as an opportunity to direct viewers back to Channel 4 to watch more.”

There’s no official launch date for 4seven as of yet, but Abraham did reveal that it would be arriving on all major platforms later this year. So that’s to assume that mobile will receive a look-in.
A new catch-up channel has been rumored for a while, referred to as ‘Project Shuffle’, though the details were pretty scant. It’s thought that Channel 4 has been working to reach an agreement with Virgin Media to secure the final deal, as it looks to maximize the exposure of the new channel.
