Top New gadgets for 2012

The Crazy thing about technology is that it is constantly changing. Technology has brought tremendous change in mobile and computer world. In the past we used our mobile phones to place a call, to answer the call and to save phone numbers but now it has become our all in one device. A large desktop computer has changed to a small Laptop and net book. Technology is growing day by day and year by year. Every year we find some new inventions coming out. Let us see Technology tokens we’ve had so far in 2012.

Wii U

Wii U comes with a powerful HD console, offering 1080p output and 3D support. It is also has a small tablet, which is  a controller with all the usable buttons. The touch screen is used to control the games and you can also play the games on that screen, leaving your TV free.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is the first NVidia Tegra 3 Tablet. HD videos play better than before. It is a new competitor for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). It has an efficient battery life of 12 hours for watching videos as Tegra 3 manages power.

Android 4.0 Tablets

The Sony Tablet P is a unique device which comes with two touch-screens and is similar to Nintendo’s 3DS.  Both the touch-screens are 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1024x480 pixels.  We can use two different applications at the same time using these two screens. Samsung and many other companies are expected to come out with similar Android 4.0 tablets.

Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook

Dell favors Windows 8 over Android in attempt to make gains in mobile market

Remember Dell’s feeble attempt into the mobile space when it released its failed 5-inch Android tablet called the Streak 5? And when it killed the Streak 7? Well, the giant hardware maker of computers isn’t giving up easy, as the company sees Windows 8 becoming a big part of its future.
In an interview with Reuters, Dell executive Steve Felice says that the company has “a roadmap for tablets that we haven’t announced yet,” and “we don’t think that this market is closed off in any way.” Felice also said, “We are very encouraged by the touch capability we are seeing in the beta version of Windows 8.” That’s sparingly optimistic from a company who has fallen flat on its face in the tablet space, but kudos to them for effort.
Like most companies, Dell thinks it has a chance to compete against Apple, not in the company’s strong hold, but in its weaker spot of the enterprise market. When talking to Reuters, Felice not only used strong words like, “It’s no longer about shiny boxes, it’s about IT solutions,” he also explained the confidence he has in the company’s strategy going forward. “On the commercial side there are a lot of concerns about security, interoperability, systems and device management, and I think Dell is in the best position to meet those.”
It’s cool that Dell is trying to run with a certain strategy to better place itself in the tablet market, but to say this will work is anyone’s guess. Apple is already making moves into the world of enterprise and it’s just a matter of time before they become the preferred choice of many corporations. That said, I’m sure RIM will have something to say about this, as the Canadian phone maker has been the leader in the enterprise space for many years.

Dell Tries To Remake Itself As An IT Vendor While Its PC Business Gets Clobbered By Apple

Dell attempted today to rebrand itself as an end-to-end enterprise IT vendor amid slowing consumer PC sales. The company appears to be following in the footsteps of IBM, which sold its PC business to Lenovo, and HP, which came close to selling off its personal systems division last summer.
Dell won’t be getting out of the PC business completely, at least not yet. The company will continue to produce its XPS line of computers, which it cites as a success. It will, however, move away from less profitable markets including PC peripherals.
Dell used the launch of a range of enterprise technologies today to bolster its image as being primarily an IT vendor that happens to make some PCs as well.
The list of enterprise options that Dell announced today includes:
  • The twelfth generation of its PowerEdge server lineup
  • Next generation storage array options
  • Virtual network architecture
  • A lineup of desktop virtualization solutions
  • A data warehouse appliance aimed at business intelligence features
All of these are profitable technologies aimed at enterprise operations and they do meet some of the trends expected to shape IT decisions in large companies over the next year or so. Dell has, of course, been in the enterprise IT space for much of the past couple of decades. By refocusing on enterprise technologies, the company will probably be able to help maintain sales of PCs to businesses buying those technologies even if it has to completely abandon the consumer market.
That said, it’s impossible to look at this news and see anything other than a company that got caught with its pants down as the consumer and business technology world was reinvented by others, most notably Apple. The iPad and the latest generation of MacBook Air models proved that Apple could not only innovate but that it could do so at economies of scale that makes competition extremely tough for its competitors. The iPad has been taking bites out of the consumer PC market for two years now and is undoubtedly a factor in Dell canceling its netbook models.
Ironically, Dell’s attempt to focus on its most profitable markets while abandoning ones that are losing money or just breaking even is the polar opposite of Apple’s moves over the past year and a half, during which Apple has canceled its enterprise server products and focused on consumer devices.
One can’t help looking at the state of Dell today, scrambling to reinvent itself and remain a major player in the business world while abandoning much of its long-stranding consumer lines, and remember Michael Dell saying that if he were running Apple, he’d sell the company and give the money back to its shareholders. My inner cynic is wondering how he’d react to someone suggesting that he consider doing just that.

Dell and Intel head back to NY

This Thursday, Dell and Intel head back to New York for their third Create.Work.Inspire event. This time the XPS 13 Ultrabook™ is a key player in the creation of a music video.

Curious about the XPS 13 Ultrabook™? Visit the event this weekend in New Yorks’s hip Williamsburg district at Create.Work.Inspire to see it for yourself. Get more information and RSVP here.

The last Create.Work.Inspire event at the Carte Blanche Gallery San Francisco was very inspiring. Dell and Intel used photography as a creative inspiration to show how the forthcoming XPS 13 Ultrabook™ is the optimal tool for the creative professional on the go. There, we had the opportunity to get some hands-on with the XPS 13 Ultrabook™. See our full coverage of that event here or watch the video below.

Create.Work.Inspire – Hands-on with Dell XPS 13 ultrabook (video)

We’ve been having a great time at the Dell-sponsored Create.Work.Inspire talking about the intersection of art and technology but one of the main reasons I came here was to get some time with the Dell XPS 13 ultrabook.
While the IntoMobile team is all about the mobile lifestyle, I cannot work on the road on just a tablet and smartphone. Maybe that will change in the near future but I still need the power and keyboard of laptop. That doesn’t mean I want to sacrifice portability or looks, though.
Luckily, the Dell XPS 13 seems to come through on all counts, as it’s a stylish computer that’s light, portable and packed full of power. The brushed aluminum cover will definitely remind you of the devices that comes from Cupetino but Dell has done enough to make the XPS 13 stand out. The bottom and wrist rests feel like they’re made of polycarbonate and it makes for a light (less than three pounds) and good-looking body.
The keyboard is absolutely great. It’s well spaced out, the travel back is amazing and it feels like it can stand up to a pounding. There’s a 13.3-inch bezel-to-bezel display with Gorilla Glass and the power part is not a problem with the second-gen Intel processor inside. You can also look for a camera, Bluetooth, 128 GB and 256 GB SSD models and nearly everything else you’d expect from a device of this class.
Unfortunately, there aren’t enough USB ports for my liking, as you have to deal with two. I would have also loved a built-in card reader too. Still, these are minor complaints.
You can find out more about the Dell XPS 13 here.

Create.Work.Inspire. – The Artists, Photographers, and Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook

To wrap up the Create.Work.Inspire event brought to you by Dell and Intel here on this beautiful day at the Carte Blanche Gallery in the Mission district of San Francisco, we would like to highlight the artists and professional photographers who presented their works to the audience (in the presence of several slick Dell XPS 13 Ultrabooks).

Dell to re-enter the tablet market in late 2012, likely with Windows 8

Dell has had trouble in the mobile and tablet space. The company’s CEO, Michael Dell, has continuously bashed Android, and its Streak phone-tablet line was a commercial failure that was eventually abandoned. The once-dominant PC corporation has examined the company’s shortcomings and now understands that consumers value the “ecosystem” of a tablet as much as the hardware, according to Dell chief commercial officer Steve Felice. “We have been taking our time. The general failure of everyone that’s tried to introduce a tablet outside of Apple” said Felice in an interview with Reuters. “You will see us enter this market in a bigger way toward the end of the year. So we are not really deemphasizing it, we are really being very careful how we enter it.” The company hasn’t announced which non-Apple operating system it might adopt, saying both Android and Windows 8 were viable options. However, Felice did say that he liked the feel of Microsoft’s touch-enabled operating system, which should debut later this year. Dell plans to focus on the consumer level of products rather than the enterprise, although the company’s products will remain compatible within the business marketplace. “When we introduce the products, they will be consumer products, but we are going to make sure that they are very compatible with the business marketplace, which we don’t think Apple has addressed,” said Felice. “There’s lot of use in the commercial sector that requires security and more compatibility, and I think we will be able to address that in a better way.”

DELL XPS 13 – The Ultimate Ultrabook

[CES 2012] In the past, Dell has not been known for its forte in product design. Instead, the brand’s reputation relied more on its ability to provide affordable computers for the masses. With the rise of the iPhone and the constant domination of Apple on the high-end laptops market segment (over $1000), the Austin-based company decided last year to operate a drastic shift in brand and product positioning to increase its profitability in the consumer PC market. Basically, Dell made the decision to deliver user-centric products instead of exclusively focusing on technology and features, and now, it is paying off.
The Dell XPS 13 is one of the best surprises that we have seen at CES, this beautifully crafted ultrathin 13-inch notebook has everything in its guts to rival (and surpass) the MacBook Air, and, according to the manufacturer, it is the only true enterprise-ready Ultrabook on the market to dateThanks to its edge-to-edge bonded ETE Gorilla glass display, the Dell XPS 13 offers a more compact design compared to the 13-inch MacBook Air. A hair thicker and heavier than the Apple notebook (6-18 mm vs. 3-17 mm – 2.99 pounds vs. 2.96 pounds), its smaller body (316 mm x 205 mm vs. 325 mm x 227 mm) gets a machined aluminum construction for durability.
On the performance side, the most powerful configuration boasts an Intel Core i7 2637M dual core with 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333 MHz, Intel HD 3000 graphics and 256GB SSD with Intel rapid Start, which is a better configuration than the current most powerful 13-inch MacBook Air that only offers a Intel Core i5 with 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333 MHz, Intel HD 3000 graphics and 256GB SSD.
On the design side, the product is amazingly crafted for aesthetics and convenience, its sleek body features carbon fiber on the back for better heat dissipation while used on the lap, and to offer lighter weight, durability and softer touch.  On the inside, the magnesium alloy with soft touch finish is easy on the eye and the full size backlit keyboard with the great buttonless multi gesture trackpad deliver perfect comfort for data input. To date, it is the best trackpad that we have tried on a notebook.

Dell Streak Pro D43 launched in China, where Yi shall find some Baidu love

Just as rumored and teased earlier this week, yesterday Dell unveiled the world's first Baidu Yi-powered smartphone dubbed Streak Pro D43. We won't bore you with the hardware details again (the D43's identical to its Japanese Android counterpart 101DL), but it's worth noting that this dual-core 1.5GHz, quadband HSPA phone focuses on features and services tailored for Chinese users, including some seemingly basic Mandarin voice control (no pressure on Siri just yet), contacts synchronization, Baidu Chinese input, Yi's own app store and 100GB of free cloud storage that supports multimedia upload and secure file sharing. Essentially, the Yi platform's basically just another Chinese bastardized Android OS sans Google services -- much like Alibaba's Aliyun, China Mobile's Ophone and Lenovo's LeOS; but if you already reside in China and are cool with Baidu's offering, then get a Micro SIM ready and look out for a China Unicom deal soon

Dell unveils Alienware Aurora gaming rig, will serenade you for $2,200

Dell has just taken the wraps off a brand new addition to the Alienware family, hailing it, rather poetically, as "a serenade to raw gaming power." It's called the Alienware Aurora, and it's staring at you with a Cylon-like grin in the image above. Beneath its menacing veneer lurks Intel's six-core, 3000 series Core i7 CPU, an X79 Express chipset and quad-channel DDR3 memory, all of which are kept in check by Dell's liquid cooling and active venting technologies. The gaming rig also supports both multi-display and 3D configurations, with GDDR5 memory-laced graphics cards. In case you're not satisfied, you can always get under the hood and tinker with it yourself, without even busting out your tool belt. The Alienware Aurora is available now for prices starting at $2,200, so hit up the source link for more details.

Dell Exits the Android Tablet Market, kills the Streak 7

The manufacturer popular for it’s computer line has struggled with their Android tablet line, failing to distinguish them from rival OEM devices and announcing devices early but releasing too late. The first Dell Streak was announced early last year but only shipped in August. In the meanwhile Apple had announced and launched their iPad successfully.
The Streak 7 has been removed from the Dell website, and the company stated:
Dell remains committed to the mobility market and continues to sell products here and in other parts of the world. Streak 7 delivered a unique experience for customers who wanted a larger screen-size yet the freedom of staying connected to their personal and professional content while on the-go. It continues to be available in many markets through retail, distributors and carrier partners such as Optus in Australia. A 10-inch version of the tablet, Streak 10 Pro, is currently offered in China, offering the ultimate digital divide between work and life. The Venue and Venue Pro devices, as well, continue to earn accolades for performance, design and functionality around the world. We also recently launched the Latitude ST, a 10-inch Windows 7-based touch-screen tablet designed for vertical markets such as education, finance and healthcare in November of this year. We remain committed to expanding our reach beyond PCs with a targeted set of open, standards-based mobility solutions and services designed for commercial and mobile professional customers.
So basically, Dell “remains committed” to mobile, but seems like they will drop Android tablets to focus on Windows Tablets instead. Dell already produces Windows based PCs, and has a strong relationship with Microsoft, so the move would deffo make sense.
