Nokia 808 PureView Firmware Update

It's just been over a week since the Nokia 808 PureView went on sale and Nokia has already given the phones its first firmware upgrade.
Although an official change log is not available, but according to All About Symbian, the update brings with it improvement in scrolling performance, quicker saving of the 38 megapixel images, smoother auto-rotation and other performance enhancements and bug fixes.

The v112.020.0310 update is now available over-the-air and can be downloaded directly on to your phone, or you can download it by connecting your phone to Nokia Suite.

Nokia's 808 Pureview launched in india

Nokia finally launches its highly anticipated phone 808 PureView in India which has 41MP camera. It will be one of the first markets in the world to get the phone.The Nokia PureView 808 smartphone features a single-core 1.3 GHz mobile processor with 512 MB RAM. The 41 megapixel camera in Nokia 808 incorporates a new technology called PureView which is jointly developed by Nokia and Carl Zeiss. Bearing the f/2.8 aperture, the 41 megapixel camera will come with Xenon flash and promises 7728x5354 resolution images in 16:9 formats.

He Camera of Nokia 808 PureView also supports up to 4x digital zoom without compromising on the quality. It also allows capturing full 1080p HD videos at 30 frames per second with up to 3x zoom while for the 720p HD resolution one can go up to 6x zoom.

Nokia 808 will come with Symbian Belle feature pack 1 operating system and will also feature Dolby Mobile Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback. Nokia has packed a 1400 mAh battery which promises 11 hours of battery life on EDGE and 6.5 hours of battery life on 3G networks.

Dolby Sound technology coming to Nokia 700, 701 & 603

Dolby Laboratories has announced it will be bringing its sound technology to more Nokia smartphones, specifically the Nokia 700, 701 and 603. The feature will be unlocked with a feature pack software update that Nokia will release, the timeline for which is not known at the moment. The update will bring Dolby’s renowned Surround Sound 5.1 to these Nokia smartphones.
“The new Nokia 808 PureView is the latest smartphone to showcase Dolby technologies, to deliver an outstanding entertainment experience that is perfectly aligned with this groundbreaking phone’s capabilities. Meanwhile, the software upgrade for other Nokia smartphones also unleashes the power of Dolby technology to bring cinematic 5.1 surround sound that transforms music, movies, and games into a personal surround sound experience like no other,” said Andreas Spechtler, Regional Vice President, EMEA, Dolby Laboratories.

Awesome Belle Skin for S60 Phones

Nokia 500 gets a Belle update starting today

GLOBAL - Nokia Belle will start to be rolled out to Nokia 500 owners today in most countries.
It will be released in phases, country by country as soon as each relevant variant of the latest Symbian software is available. So the schedule will vary according to where you live and which network operator you are with.

The majority of Belle enhancements will be available for the Nokia 500 including a visually
improved browser enabling high-quality Web video viewing.

Menus have been simplified and a notifications bar has been added to make accessing key settings or features, very fast. And a new larger live widgets display puts what’s really important to you on the homescreen.

This version of Belle has been specifically tailored to match Nokia 500’s hardware performance. You can personalize your Nokia 500 with up to four home screens leaving all your favourite applications and services only a few taps away. You will also get Nokia Maps version 3.06.

Nokia's Mobile World Congress Lineup Revealed

We've gotten wind of the names, but not the details, of the handsets Nokia reportedly plans on revealing later this month at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress. The six devices are supposedly split evenly among smartphones -- two Windows Phonesand a Symbian -- and three S60 S40 featurephones. Specifically, we're now expecting the global version of the Lumia 900, an entry-level handset dubbed the Lumia 610, and the Nokia 808 PureView, which has been rumored as a full touchscreen successor to the camera-centric N8. Also tipped were the Asha 302, Asha 203, and Asha 202.



As for the Windows Phones, we've already seen the 900 introduced at CES for AT&T; moreover, we were tipped a few months back on a handset that claimed to be the Lumia 601 (not 610), but whose renders appeared somewhat suspect. That imagery had the phone looking very much like a keypad-less X3 which, while certainly a possibility, doesn't seem to fall in line with the company's latest smartphone design language

Nokia Belle coming on 8th February 2012 (to Vietnam). #Symbian

Now I’m not sure about everywhere else, Nokia most likely will try to get a close to a global release as they can but at least there is a confirmed date somewhere.
Mark this in your diaries.

That’s on time based on the official Nokia Belle update dates (though not if we remember the Q4 2011 expectations). Apparently there was a critical bug that meant that those Anna, S^3 handsets could not be given the update. Belle seems to be fine on the original Belle units but of course, their hardware is slightly different and geared towards Belle.
These official dates can be seen from Nokia Vietnam. I’ve checked a few Nokia sites in other countries but can’t find a similar page.

Nokia Belle update coming in February

Nokia announced a couple weeks back that they would release the Nokia Belle, formally Symbian Belle, update for the “N8, E7, X7, C6-01, C7, Oro, E6, and Nokia 500 in early 2012.” However, today brings a bit more clarity as Nokia has confirmed the over-the-air update will begin rolling out in February.
“For those already owning a Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, and Nokia Oro, the wait for Nokia Belle is almost over. Starting in February 2012, Nokia will release the all new Nokia Belle software update to existing customers and you’ll be able to download it right on to your phone, bringing a whole heap of improved features.”
The update will bring the homescreens to 6 and improved UI experience. Rogers has the N8, Videotron and WIND have the C7 and Bell has the C6-01.

Symbian Belle coming early 2012 to Nokia N8, X7 and others

If there is an OS that no one thought would see two major upgrades in six months it would be Symbian. The dying-dead-gone OS is being slowly replaced by Windows Phone 7 in Nokia’s high-end devices, while S40 will continue to thrive in their entry-level fare.
But due to the relative late arrival of Symbian Anna (my E7 only got the update to Anna in late October) the next version appears to be arriving quite quickly. Devices like the Nokia 603, 700 and 701 shipped with Belle, which brings an Android-like notification bar and smoother overall performance, but legacy devices such as the E7, N8, X7, E6, C6 and Nokia 500 are due to be improved in “early 2012″ according to Nokia.
The official statement states:

“Nokia Belle is the latest Symbian software release with all-new user interface, improved user experience, and dozens of improved and new features. We have already shipped Nokia 603, 700 and 701 with Belle software this year, and have received great feedback on the new user experience.
We will make Nokia Belle available to consumers globally by rolling out the Belle software for the existing Nokia range of smartphones such as N8, E7, X7, C6-01, C7, Oro, E6, and Nokia 500 in early 2012. With that, millions of consumers around the world will get a totally fresh experience on their Symbian smartphone.”

The Anna update started rolling out in Europe months before it was ever greenlit in North America, so we wouldn’t surprised if our E7′s and N8′s take a few more months than the rest of the world to get Belle. Either way, it’s nice that these older but still-beautiful Symbian devices have not been completely forgotten in the run-up to Windows Phone. Not by a long shot.

The 700 and 701 are available in most markets but as we all know now, the Nokia 600 got cancelled. But since August, none of the Symbian^3 devices have gotten an update past Symbian Anna, and Nokia never gave an expected data other than ‘in the coming months‘. AAS spoke to a Nokia representative to get a proper answer:

With that, millions of consumers around the world will get a totally fresh experience on their Symbian smartphone.

That could mean anything from January to April. Pity seeing how an unofficial Symbian Belle firmware is available on the N8 and the Nokia C7 for a while now. Honestly I thought the new Symbian Carla version might be out by then, but eeeeh here ya go.
