Deals : $25 Google Wallet Credit, 1 month free Virgin Mobile service For LG Optimus Elite

If your eyeing up for Contract for LG Optimus Elite,Virgin Mobile has just sweetened the pot. From today through July 18, 2012 all LG Optimus Elite purchasers will receive a $25 credit to their Google Wallet Account.

Interestingly, the fine print states that Google will add $10 to your Google Wallet account within 48 hours of activation and then add the remaining $15 within 3 weeks. Much like that birthday card from the grandparents, don’t spend it all in one place. The good news is, you don’t need to relinquish any personal credit card information to take advantage of this deal. You are free to spend your $25 and never use Google Wallet again if you choose, but we’re sure that both Google and Virgin Mobile are betting you’ll love it.

It also worth mentioning, that Virgin Mobile is running another deal that gives you a $35 account credit good for 1 month of service (if you're on the lowest plan, otherwise it will go toward your bill) to those that purchase and activate a new LG Optimus Elite between now and May 30, 2012. LG Optimus Elite is Up for pre order at Virgin mobile.The price is $149.99, and the smartphone will start shipping on May 15 (this coming Tuesday).
The LG Optimus Elite was announced last month for both Sprint and Virgin Mobile, but back then pricing and availability information was only made public for the Now Network. If you’re a Virgin Mobile customer (or fan), you can now head here and pre-order an LG Optimus Elite too.

The Optimus Elite is apparently the successor to the Optimus S (which was Sprint’s version of the Optimus One), but it doesn’t really come with much improved specs. It sports a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, an 800 MHz processor, a 5 MP rear camera, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of built-in storage space, microSD card support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and NFC (with Google Wallet). It runs Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread.
The main feature seems to be the Elite’s eco-friendliness, it being made of 50% recycled plastics. The smartphone is also free from potentially hazardous materials such as PVC, comes with fully recyclable packaging, and features an extremely energy efficient charger.

Virgin Mobile announced it's plans to launch the HTC EVO V 4G along with WiMAX mobile

Virgin Mobile announced it's plans to launch the HTC EVO V 4G along with WiMAX mobile broadband devices on May 31st. The press release does not reveal what processor ticks under the smartphone's hood, but it would not be surprising to have the 1.2GHz dual-core chip that the HTC EVO 3D sports. Further hardware specs include the presence of a microSD slot for storage expansion, 1GB RAM, 4GB on-board storage, and a 1,730mAh battery. Android 4.0 ICS comes out of the box with the HTC Sense 3.6 UI installed on top, which is more than welcome.

Does the HTC EVO V 4G spark your interest? Then get ready to drop $300 on the table. This, however, seems like a fair price considering the device you are getting in exchange, and the peace of mind from knowing that you are not tied to a carrier contract. The most affordable 4G plan is priced at $35 per month, which includes unlimited data and texts (2.5GB at full speed), as well as 300 anytime minutes. The smartphone will be made available for purchase on May 31.

Sprint to Switch Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile to WiMax

Virgin and Boost Mobile will be making the leap to 4G — sort of. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse recently announced that the company’s prepaid brands will be bumped up to Clearwire’s WiMax 4G, just as the rest of the company will be upgrading to 4G LTE.

While it seems that prepaid owners will be getting the short end of the stick, the announcement is actually a win for both sides. Boost and Virgin subscribers will have access to a faster wireless network. Sprint can continue to get some use out the WiMax network which its made a commitment to until 2015. Sprint also gets the added bonus of relatively broad coverage since WiMax already covers 80 markets.




While Sprint plans to launch LTE in six markets sometime this year, there’s no word on when the company’s prepaid customers will make the move to this faster network. Another unknown is whether or not Virgin and Boost subscribers can expect to see any new smartphones that take advantage of the newly gained speed.

HTC Evo 3D Coming To Virgin Mobile As HTC Evo V 4G

The HTC Evo 3D was launched last year and now it looks like it is headed to Virgin Mobile in the US as the HTC Evo V 4G, and it looks like the specifications will be the same as the the HTC Evo 3D

The most important difference between the device that Virgin will have and the one that’s been at Sprint all this time is the name. Virgin is apparently going to go with HTC Evo V 4G, for some reason. Perhaps all that 3D gimmickry isn’t worthy of a mention in the handset’s name, Virgin may have concluded.
 Alongside the Evo V 4G, Virgin will also be selling the (thankfully newer) HTC One V.
The Evo V will come in both grey and the plum color that was once a Best Buy exclusive for Sprint’s Evo 3D. And aside from the new name, this is the Evo 3D, for all intents and purposes.
Unfortunately there’s no info yet on pricing or a release date, but we’ll bring those to you as soon as we get them

Virgin Mobile USA’s Data and Text Messaging Service Down Nationwide

If you’re currently rockin’ a device on Virgin Mobile here in the states, you may have noticed that your phone isn’t able to send/receive text messages or access the internet. The MVNO announced today via their social networks that they are currently experiencing an outage and are “working to resolve it.” While not everyone seems to be affected, we just wanted to let you guys know before your misplaced anger causes you to throw your phone against the wall. Hang in there, folks.
