Google Wallet hacked to work on Verizon Galaxy S III

You won’t find Google Wallet, officially, on any of the smartphones offered by Verizon Wireless (VZ), not even the Galaxy Nexus. In fact, you won’t find Google Wallet on any smartphone offered by T-Mobile (DTE) or AT&T (T) either — the only carrier that supports Google’s (GOOG) mobile payment platform is Sprint (S). Other wireless service providers have backed a mobile payment competitor known as ISIS, and have blocked Google Wallet from devices that run on their networks. Despite this speed bump, hackers have found a way to enable the service on select handsets such as the Galaxy Nexus and Samsung’s (005930) latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. The device will of course have to be rooted, and after a slight tweak to the build.prop and the installation of a zip file, users will be able to make purchases using Google Wallet. Verizon Affirms HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE Release Date, Announces Price

Late last week, HTC sent out a tweet that appeared to finally confirm what we had all been hearing, that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE would make its retail debut on Verizon sometime this week. Since July 5 had been mentioned as a possible release date before, that seemed like the obvious candidate. Sure enough, Verizon has now come through with an announcement of its own, confirming that date and finally revealing the smartphone’s price.

There were some early Droid Incredible 4G LTE discoveries, all the way back in April, that might have had you thinking the phone would launch with a $300 on-contract price tag. That wouldn’t make much sense with Verizon not even charging $300 for theGalaxy S III, so thankfully that figure was just a placeholder. Then, in early June, we heard a rumor that the carrier would instead be selling the DI4GLTE for a more reasonable $150. That’s the same price Verizon revealed today in its official announcement, on-contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Comparing the phone to HTC’s One series, it fits somewhere between the One V and One S, both in screen size and processing power. It’s got a four-inch Super LCD qHD screen, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4, and an eight-megapixel main camera.

Motorola DROID RAZR Will Get Ice Cream Sandwich Today

According to CNET reports Motorola DROID RAZR will get Ice cream sandwich today.
The only problem is,Verizon apparently missed the memo. The VZW Support Twitter account is responding to user demand for Ice Cream Sandwich with news that an official date of deployment has yet to be set. DroidLife points out that we have yet to see the typical round of test updates delivered to members of the Motorola Feedback Network, and likely will not see a full rollout until after that initial phase comes and goes.

Of course, we must remember the June 12th date was never official, and as is typically the case with updates it is best not to start counting the chickens before they hatch.

Verizon and AT&T Opt Out of 50GB Dropbox space for Samsung’s Galaxy S3

Earlier while the launch the samsung galaxy sIII , they say the phone will come with 50GB of free Dropbox storage for 2 years. But now the news comes from Dropbox itself, which states that "select carriers have opted out of the promotion" and "Verizon and AT&T are among these carriers not participating."

The promotion, available internationally, adds 48GB to Dropbox's regular 2GB free allowance and runs for the length of an average contract. The deal doubles that offered by HTC's One series, which adds 23GB to boost storage to 25GB. Neither Verizon nor AT&T has commented on Dropbox's announcement yet

ICS update has begun for Verizon's Motorola XOOM

If you're a Motorola XOOM owner on Verizon, we've got great news: The 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update has begun rolling out. We saw the Verizon update roadmap a couple weeks ago, suggesting that the ICS update could drop at any time, so it's nice to see it hit not too long afterwards.There are a lot of enhancements that come with this update. The four features that Verizon is taking the most time to point out are:

• The Launch Bar, which allows you to drop applications, shortcuts and folders into and access from any homescreen
• Usage Center, which Verizon has been highly touting as of late. It lets you keep track of your data usage
• Notification Pop Up Box, which contains all of your inboxes and notifications in one streamlined box
• Folders, you've all seen ICS folders by now, so you'll get to create and use them on the XOOM screen as well

There are many other benefits from the update though. Here is a list:

• EAS security and sync fixed
• Email search
• Updated browser with faster rendering

Verizon lighting up beach town 4G LTE up and down the East Coast

Verizon’s 4G rollout is headed for the beach and the carrier is hoping you’ll catch a gnarly LTE wave. Popular summer vacation destinations up and down the East Coast are being treated to Verizon’s high speed data network just in time for the Memorial Day holiday, the weekend that kicks off a few month’s worth of fun and sun. The beach’s of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Massachusetts are the latest to benefit from Big Red’ aggressive LTE push. So pack your swim trunks and a towel, but don’t forget your smartphone (or your sunscreen). Just be careful around all that sound. Android 4.0 Should comes to HTC Thunderbolt

Android 4.0 Should comes to HTC Thunderbolt it is the Verizon's first 4G LTE smartphone to have ICS.
Since its release, it has received several software updates, and is expected to be blessed with Ice Cream Sandwich - but not yet.
The newest update for the device (version 2.11.605.19 710RD) should be rolling out at any time, but looks to be just a routine maintenance release. This 61MB update fixes issues with data connectivity, Yahoo! Mail, and Mobile Hotspot, supports Cisco Any with VPN, and is now enabled with the Wireless Alerting System.

We hope the next update for the HTC ThunderBolt will include Ice Cream Sandwich.

Leaked:Verizon's Android 4.0 update rollout

Verizon's Android 4.0 update rollout has Leaked. But the upgrade is finally picking up pace, with the HTC Rezound, Motorola Droid RAZR, and the Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon Wireless finally receiving their piece of Ice Cream Sandwich soon.


The timeline is the following:

• HTC Rezound – May 9 (Size: 297MB) (MOTA – Verizon’s 4G OTA solution)
• Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx – May 21 (Size: 341 MB) (BOTA – Motorola’s OTA solution)
• Motorola XOOM 3G and 4G – No date released, testing was completed on April 19 (Size: 106MB) (GOTA – Google’s OTA solution)

As you can see from the leaked road map, only the HTC Rezound will receive the update from Verizon, with the Motorola smartphones getting the update directly from Motorola, and the Xoom 3G and 4G tablets receiving the upgrade directly from Google.

With talk of the Android 5.0 Jellybean OS already making the rounds, it’s about time that carriers and manufacturers get on top of the ICS rollout situation. For now, at least there is some good news for HTC Rezound, Motorola Razr, and Razr Maxx owners on the Verizon network.

In Verizon’s network ZTE V66 tablet could be known “Turbine”

Remember the ZTE V66 tablet that was spotted last year? The Android based tablet was rumored to be headed Verizon’s way and according to the folks at Pocket Now, it could be receiving a name change when it makes its way onto the carrier. To be fair the V66 name was really much of a name to begin with, so if the tablet managed to pique your interest back in 2011, it has been reported that the “Turbine” name might be one that you’ll want to keep an eye out for. We’re not sure if it will be called the Verizon Turbine, the ZTE Turbine or simply the Turbine, but one of these variations has been reported to be the tablet’s name.
In case you might have forgotten, the ZTE V66 “Turbine” was discovered last year via an FCC filing. The tablet is expected to feature a 1.2GHz processor, a 7” 1280×800 display, front and rear-facing cameras, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 4,000mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity and will run on Android 3.2 Honeycomb. These specs are pretty much the same that can be found on Sprint’s ZTE Optik tablet sans the LTE connection of course. Given its mid-ranged specs, we don’t expect the ZTE V66 “Turbine” to break the bank upon its release. Until then, be sure to check back with us from time to time for more updates.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus drops to $200 on-contract

Last week, rumors suggested Verizon would be dropping the on-contract MSRP for its Galaxy Nexus. The phone, once a $300 exclusive in America, can now be had for $200 after rebates and other applicable discounts.
It’s a pretty sensible move on Verizon’s part. Not only has the device been out for more than four months, but Sprint’s version of the device, which costs $200 and launched yesterday, likely pushed Verizon to make the change.
In any case, $100 is a nice price difference. If you were holding out for a more attractive price (even though third-party retailers have frequent sales for it), there’s no better time than now to get it straight from Big Read. [Verizon ]

Verizon to add 27 new 4G LTE markets, expand in 47 others this week

Verizon Wireless on Tuesday announced plans to bring its 4G LTE network to 27 new markets on Thursday and expand its service in 47 existing markets. The additional markets bring Verizon’s total coverage to 230 4G LTE markets across the United States, covering nearly two-thirds on the nation’s population. By the end of 2012, the carrier plans to have its LTE service available in more than 400 markets covering more than 260 million Americans. “Verizon Wireless 4G LTE is the premier wireless data service in the nation, with more than six times the geographic coverage of our nearest competitor’s 4G LTE network and now available to more than two-thirds of the nation’s population,” said David Small, chief technical officer of Verizon Wireless. “We will continue to introduce new markets and expand covered markets to ensure even more wireless users across the United States can take advantage of the benefits that 4G LTE brings to consumers, small businesses and enterprises.” Read on for Verizon’s press release.

Motorola Droid Razr HD (XT926) possibly headed to Verizon, could be the Droid Fighter

A new and unannounced Motorola Android smartphone has been used to take some photos uploaded on Picasa recently, this revealing its name, and some features. The name is Motorola Droid Razr HD – which means the device can only be headed to Verizon.
As for its features, it looks like the Razr HD comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and – of course – an HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display.
Japanese website Blog of Mobile says the Droid Razr HD’s model number is Motorola XT926. Unfortunately, these are all the details we have about the new device for now. However, this could be the Droid Fighter we’ve seen last month. We’ll probably find out soon if that’s true or not.

At the moment, Motorola has only two smartphones with HD screens: the XT928, and the MT917 – both made exclusively for China.

Verizon continues to blanket the US with 4G LTE while the rest of the carriers desperately play catch up. We’re quick to complain about Verizon’s high prices but at least they’re putting that money to work. Today, Verizon announced it will be expanding its 4G LTE reach in ten California markets as well as Reno, Nevada within the coming weeks. 3G will soon be a thing of the past for those living in the following California cities:

Verizon Cut Down the price of HTC Rezound to $49

Rezound was one of the better handsets to drop last holiday season, but came to Verizon overshadowed by the Droid RAZR and Galaxy Nexus. With an HD display, Beats Audio, and LTE connectivity it started life priced at $299, but a few months down the road Verizon looks ready to clear some of their idle stock. The Rezound is now on sale at $49.99, a great buy if you don’t mind having a slightly older handset. As Droid Life points out, it may also be an indication of Verizon’s future lineup. The HTC Droid Incredible 4G seems a likely candidate to replace the Rezound, and the sale pricing does align with a rumored spring release. Verizon Jetpack MiFi Launching April 12th For $50, Bringing Blazing Fast 4G To Your WiFi Devices

Announced at CES 2012 in January, Verizon’s Jetpack MiFi 4620L is finally launching on April 12th, Verizon announced today. The Jetpack MiFi 4620L packs 4G LTE and 3G and will be available for $50 with a two-year contract, after a $50 mail-in-rebate. If you don’t yet have a Verizon LTE enable iPad, this will be a nice way to get Verizon’s blazing fast 4G speeds on all of your devices.
The Jetpack also features a removable battery, which can be swapped out for a larger 3000mAh unit, providing double the battery life than the one included. It also has a LED status indicator and an interactive OLED display that lets you scroll through menu options, check security settings, view battery life, and display data usage alerts.
Verizon’s LTE data packages start at $50 a month, which gives you 5 GB of data. The hotspot can support up to 10 Wi-Fi devices and can also push out 3G if you’re not in a 4G area.
The Jetpack lands at Verizon retail and online stores April 12th, along with Best Buy stores shortly after.
