The first image of what is purported to be the next Alpha range camera from Sony - the Sony Alpha A57 - has leaked online along with some juicy specs and a rumoured release date.
Starting with the details, the Alpha A57 looks just like the translucent mirror DSLR rocking A65 - although the spec sheet doesn't quite match its bigger and older brother. That's because Sony is said to be aiming to bring the A57 in with a price-tag of a couple of hundred quid less.
What we're (possibly / probably) looking at then is a DSLR with a 16-megapixel Exmor HD sensor and 10fps shooting, or 12fps in a tele-zoom mode. It is reported to have ISO modes of 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, 12800 and 16000 and a 1.44 million dot electronic viewfinder.
Stills are shot with a 15-point auto-focus with three cross sensors and video recording is AVCHD 2.0 60p/60i/24p.
And the good news is that you won't have to wait long for the Sony Alpha A57 to hit officialdom. An announcement is expected on 13 March.
