Reliance communications has launched India’s first CDMA tablet called the Reliance CDMA tab and it flaunts a 7-inch display and runs Android 2.3. The device is physically identical to the original Reliance 3G tab and also features 512MB of RAM, a 2.0 megapixel camera, a front facing camera, a microSD slot and supports Reliance’s CDMA network in 22 circles covering over a 1000 towns. Strangely, Reliance did not reveal, which processor was being employed by the CDMA tab, however we are guessing it is using the same Rockchip chipset seen in the 3G tab clocked at 800MHz. The tablet will come preloaded with a myriad of apps such as – Documents to go, and will cost only Rs 12,999.
Perhaps, the most attractive feature of this new CDMA tablet is the postpaid data scheme offered by Reliance which offers up to 40 percent in savings for customers if they purchase the Rs 19,999 combo offering 5GB of monthly data for a whole year at a premium of Rs 7,000 only. Besides this, Reliance also has two more plans, one which offers 2GB of data per month annually for a extra Rs 5,500 over the base price of Rs 12,999 providing 26 percent in savings and the other offer providing 1GB of monthly storage costing an additional Rs 4,500 over the base price of Rs 12,999 offering a discount of 27 percent.
