BlackBerry 10 coming to the Playbook

RIM will push its BlackBerry 10 operating system to the Playbook tablet, according to the company's Rob Orr
RIM's vice president of product management, Rob Orr, has confirmed BlackBerry 10 will be landing on the company's current tablet, the Playbook.
At the moment the QNX-based BlackBerry 10 platform is expected to arrive on new handsets in the second half of 2012 and updates should then rollout to existing handsets too.
However, the Playbook currently runs version 2.0 of the tablet-specific Playbook build, but the company is going to be making BlackBerry 10 cross-platform and according to Orr, it will be arriving on the Playbook around the same time as the phone launch.
‘We've said publicly a number of times that our first BB10 handset will be available towards the end of 2012, and that's still firmly the case,' Orr told Techradar, ‘At some point after the launch we'll bring BB10 to our PlayBooks, yes.'
Orr explained that the company had seen an impressive uptake of the Playbook 2.0 update, apparently around 50 per cent of Playbook users updated on the day the upgrade launched.
‘It's actually quite different to our smartphone users, who are a little bit tentative to take software updates,' he said.
