Samsung says Bada and Tizen merger not definite, yet

Samsung has officially announced that the company hasn’t made any decision on the Samsung Bada and Intel’s Tizen merger yet. This statement comes three days after when Tae-Jin Kang, senior VP for Samsung’s Contents Planning team had told Forbes that the Bada and the Tizen merger was already underway. However, the company has now officially mentioned that it is looking at this merger “as an option.” Now when this term option comes in, we are instantly reminded of Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility a few months ago. Google to partner with another OEM but Motorola for its flagship device/OS update in the long term seems highly unlikely and this truly hasn’t gone down well with Samsung. The Korean vendor has been so far relying on Android as its primary operating system. We think it makes sense for Samsung to keep the product of this Bada and Tizen merger (if it happens) as their back-up plan. Like Kang said, Tizen could provide an additional OS that can not only be used on smartphones and tablets but also TVs and other consumer gadgets.
