Samsung’s next-gen 7-inch Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, is now
available in India for Rs 26,499 (Tab 620) via Flipkart. Though Samsung
is yet to officially announce it, our readers are claiming seeing it alongside
the Galaxy Tab 8.9 (Tab 730) and Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Tab 750) in a television ad
telecast during the current India-Australia Test Cricket series. The Galaxy Tab
7.0 Plus (yeah, it is a mouthful) is the successor to the first Galaxy Tab and
sports a 7-inch 1024 x 600 pixels display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB
RAM, 16GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot and 3.0MP rear/2.0
MP front cameras. It runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb and should be upgraded to
Android 4.0 ICS sometime in the future. Though we love the 7-inch form-factor,
we are not sure what to make of it considering there will be tablets running on
Android ICS right out of the box in the next couple of months or so. Also,
considering Samsung’s history of cutting prices (remember how Samsung
slashed the price of the Galaxy Tab overnight before the iPad’s India
launch?), we don’t see any reason why one should be an early adopter
anymore. Yeah, if you really really want to go for an Android tablet with a
dual-core processor, it does not get better than the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus.
