Nokia Lumia 900 drops at CES 2012 as US exclusive

We were fully expecting the Finns to announce the Nokia Lumia 900 at CES 2012 in Vegas this week, and it turns out the most recent rumourage we relayed was pretty much spot on.
The big surprise, however, is that the Nokia Lumia 900 is – for now, at least – a US exclusive. What the…?

Nokia Conversations, the official Nokia blog, leads with the headline: “Nokia Lumia 900 – Born for the USA”, before explaining that the smartphone “was built exclusively for AT&T”. Bah.
As for the Nokia Lumia 900’s specs, it boasts a 4.3in AMOLED display (with 800x480 resolution) and 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8055 + MDM9200 processing action.
Of course, as you’d expect, the Nokia Lumia 900 camera comes with Carl Zeiss lens goodness. There’s an 8MP shooter on the rear and 1MP on the front. Camera geeks, that’s f2.2/28mm aperture on the rear, with an f2.4 lens and 30fps capture on the front.
The Nokia Lumia 900’s battery weighs in at 1830mAh. Nokia reckons that’ll yield 7 hours talk time and around 300 hours standby. Pop the Nokia Lumia 900 into flight mode and it’ll last for “more than two-and-a-half days”, we’re told.
Other Nokia Lumia 900 specs include 512MB of RAM, 16GB internal storage and Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) in the engine room. Colours? Cyan and black.
A bloomin’ US exclusive then? It’ll be interesting to see how Nokia appeases us Europeans at Mobile World Congress 2012 next month.
