Apple’s iPad 3 will feature LTE-support
and a quad-core CPU as well as an iPad-sized variant of the company’s
market-leading Retina Display, according to reports.
The news comes via Bloomberg, which reports that Apple’s ‘next
iPad, expected to go on sale in March, will sport a high-definition screen, run
a faster processor and work with next-generation wireless networks.’
Bloomberg received this information via
‘three people familiar with the product.’
Production in Asia of the iPad 3 is already
underway and expected to reach full volumes by February. Bloomberg’s
sources, which did not want to be named, confirmed that Apple’s iPad 3 will use a quad core CPU and
sport a Retina Display.
The iPad is currently Apple’s
second-biggest source of revenue, next to the iPhone. Apple – to date – has sold
around 40 million iPads, which translates into around $25.3 billion.
Apple has refused to comment on the story,
saying it does not acknowledge rumours.
There is no official release date for the iPad 3 as
yet, although we expect to be hearing something very soon – especially if
it’s hitting stores in March.
