Here’s a grim but interesting question: what happens to your iTunes music
after you die? Can you pass it on in a will or is it licensed only to you and
locked to your iTunes account? (via The
Brooks Review). Unfortunately, it looks like your license to use your
purchased digital music will likely expire when you do.
Then again, the fact that we have unprotected music files for sale makes me feel a lot better about the future of my personal collection. Whatever the law may say, the reality is that I can still share music with my family without having to worry about logins and licenses, just as I did during the days of the CD
