Over the past few years Sony has become a bloated machine riddled with
bureaucracy. Its nimble competitors have continually trounced it, which has seen
it reporting a loss for the last four years. The Wall Street Journal
has provided some perspective on Sony’s internal processes. In a report,
WSJ quotes Kunimasa Suzuki who reveals that before Sony’s incoming CEO Kaz Hirai set-up an Integrated UX group,
four different divisions in the company were developing an iPad killer.
According to the report, it was Hirai who took charge of the situation and
eventually the UX group took control and unified the project, which eventually
resulted in the Sony
Tablet S and Sony Tablet P. In spite of the both the new tablets being rock
solid Android devices, the devices have not managed to make a dent on iPad
sales.
